The only four-loss teams in the Coaches' top-25 are Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Auburn and Arkansas both won their last games and Tennessee lost in its conference title game by a TD. Do you think that Michigan is better than any of those teams?

I think that Michigan was very lucky to remain ranked in any poll after the pathetic performance they put up against Wisconsin. If I were a Wolverine fan, I would have written off this team after that game. That was a joke.

If everyone fills their ballots with their own conference-mates rather than with what they really feel, then whats the point.

Finally, why get all bent out of shape over a freaking poll? Polls are dumb and meaningless.WCThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10875199427544235300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11579003.post-65895034659138706292007-12-04T09:17:00.000-05:002007-12-04T09:17:00.000-05:00With all due respect, I must disagree with you, st...With all due respect, I must disagree with you, stiles.

Last year Tressel was in an impossible situation. He essentially was in the crazy position of voting for who is opponent would be in the national title game. He recently admitted that he was reprimanded by the Coaches' Association for not voting in the final poll. This year, Tressel was obligated to vote in the final poll because of last year's events.

I agree with you that Tressel should have had the moxy last season to vote his true ballot. However, I don't think that the other Big Ten coaches did OSU a "favor" by voting them at #1. Those coaches had the most exposure to OSU as a football team and clearly felt, based on the inconsistencies of other teams in the top 10, that the Buckeyes were deserving of the number one ranking. There decision was clearly in line with the majority of national polls and the ballots of other coaches.

Finally, regarding Michigan in the rankings: There is a difference in supporting your conference and submitting an accurate poll. Let's face it: Michigan was NOT a top 25 team this year. Appalachian state, the debacle versus Oregon, and the final two losses to Wisconsin and OSU precluded Michigan from being in the top 25. I doubt that Tressel was the only coach who left them out of the top 25. Lloyd Carr is the last man on earth who would want sympathy votes for the Maize and Blue. Bottom line: you win your games, you earn your ranking. There should be no room for sentimental votes. You, a Michigan fan, should clearly understand that (1997 National Championship to Osbourne and the Cornhuskers).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11579003.post-77842213605905160992007-12-04T08:34:00.000-05:002007-12-04T08:34:00.000-05:00Sounds like sour grapes to me. Michigan wasn't goo...Sounds like sour grapes to me. Michigan wasn't good enough to be a top-25 team in anybody's poll this year. Deal with it.

If you're going to vote in a poll, you vote the way you truly feel. Otherwise, why do it? Tressel probably felt (justifiably so) that Michigan wasn't a top-25 team. Why should you cast a ballot one way just because it's Carr's final season? This is college football, not a 9-year-old girl's birthday party invitation list.

As for Dantonio, are you surprised? There is some bad blood there, given the comments Hart made and the Spartans' taking issue with him.

Bottom line: Carr's a grown man. He is respected in the game. He is secure in his place in it. He earned it. He doesn't need a shallow pat on the back on his way out.

By the way, whether it's true or not (I don't know) how can you post a comment about Manningham and Arrington spending all their time doing someting illegal without any evidence of it? Aren't you worried about getting sued?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
